This restaurant is a hidden gem. Cafeteria style if you’re in a rush, food cooked to order if you’re not, and fabulous riverside views.
I popped along late yesterday afternoon with my Dad and my son. Eating out with a six year old can be stressful and I don’t expect my son to sit for a long leisurely dinner without the fidgets! I really like that you can pick up pre-prepared food and colouring books and pencils too!
Perhaps the best thing about the pre-prepared food here is that it’s not code for ‘stale’ or ‘not very good’. My Dad and I both had the steak and mushroom pie with roast potatoes and vegetables. All of the food was hot, tasty, and not overcooked. Each meal was just under £10:00.
My son had sausage and mash which he picked at – the portion was probably slightly too big for him – he is a fussy eater at the best of times: but at a very reasonable £3:40 it wasn’t a big deal.
The nicest part of the meal though was the view. It wasn’t busy at four pm so we bagged a window seat with no hassle and could see right across the Thames. The gorgeous sunshine helped, and my son was kept amused by watching boats and various birds glide up and down the river.
We didn’t stay for pudding but the crêpe station is wonderful if you get a chance…
